Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, home to former Drew Estate bending master Steve Saka’s lavish creations, has become a favorite source for cigar connoisseurs wanting rich and boldly flavored smokes. And perhaps one of the most impressive is the Sin Compromiso or “No Compromise” series.
Sin Compromiso cigars are made at the same factory as Saka’s Sobremesa series, Fabrica de Tabacos Joya de Nicaragua. A “hybridized” Ecuadorian Habano ligero binder and a San Andres Negro Cultivo Tonto wrapper cover a mixture of “independent plantation grown” Nicaraguan filler tobaccos. Combined, these tobaccos deliver a deeply complex full-flavored smoke loaded with thick notes of espresso, sweet earth, spice, chicory and cocoa. Saka himself counts this as one of his finest achievements.
