Cigar-making legend Arturo Fuente had anointed his oldest son Arturo Oscar as successor to the family cigar concern, yet it was the younger son Carlos who demonstrated a keener interest in the business. And so, in 1958 Arturo Oscar would sell off the company to his little brother for one dollar. Thus, began the Carlos Fuente, Sr. era. And it was in 1976 that Carlos struck on a blend that would become his smoke of choice and a cigar hailed as his crowning achievement when released a decade later as the now-legendary Arturo Fuente Don Carlos.
An African Cameroon wrapper leaf surrounds Dominican binder and filler tobaccos which have been aged up to 10 years, delivering a sensory adventure that is at once smooth, complex and sophisticated. The limited edition Don Carlos Edicion de Anniversario was created by Carlos Fuente, Jr. in 2006 to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of his father’s original blend. Carlos, Jr. tweaked the filler mixture to add a bolder character, while replacing the African Cameroon wrapper with the same Chateau de la Fuente-grown leaf as used on the Fuente Fuente Opus X to garner a more balanced and complex smoke.
